Summary: Reside in Antarctica means to overcome a series of severe local factors, the architectural production being absolutely conditioned to the environmental conditions. Over the years, these difficulties have been overcome concomitantly with the advancement of technology. However, in addition to the effort to confront the particular adverse conditions to the continent, there is also a need for an effort to harmonize man with the environment. Low temperatures, gusts of wind, isolation and the need for preservation of the natural environment delegate to the architecture the search for sustainable solutions and that guarantee the protection and conditions of adequate comfort to the human beings. Thus, the objective of this work is to improve and propose the methodology of sustainability assessment indicators for Antarctic buildings developed by Montarroyos (2015), focusing on the aspects concerning the quality of the internal environment, aiming to meet the existing gap in the comfort area In the Antarctic environment. It is intended that the indicators also serve to guide the designers in the project stage, promoting an architecture that integrates the issues related to sustainability and the quality of the internal environment. To reach the proposed objectives, the methodological procedures adopted were divided into five stages. Firstly, the bibliographic review of the aspects related to the research was done, which allowed the definition of the contemplated criteria and limits of the evaluation. Next, the reference marks and their respective weights were developed for each indicator and, finally, analysis of the results and obtaining the final set of comfort indicators. The result of the analyzes allowed the proposal of a flexible methodology for the weighting of the indicators referring not only to the quality of the internal environment, but also to the general aspects that comprise Antarctic buildings.
Keywords: Antarctica, indicators, comfort, quality of the internal environment.
