Summary: Considering the landscape something of a complex understanding, this work seeks a reading of the concept under the lens of perception and representation. The objective is to evaluate the perception of the landscape in the movement of the walking, in a part of the south coastline of Espírito Santo (Brazil), covered by the event of “Passos de Anchieta”. Every year, the event travels 100 kilometers from Vitória to Anchieta in four days, and its founding mythology is based on indications that St. José de Anchieta traveled it in the late 16th century. The region comprises a mixture of preserved areas of restinga, in contrast to various types of occupation, and lives in constant conflict of interest. The theoretical basis is in the lived landscape and seeks to present the idea of the landscape as a happening, engendered by perception, and represented by photography. As a walker in 2016, I tried to observe the relation of the participants with the landscape and to create a characterization of the route in written and visual forms. In comparison with the history of the constitution of the landscape of the places, I tried to evaluate them in order to indicate possible scenarios of future occupation. In 2015, I interviewed walkers at walk stops, seeking to evaluate their perception through spoken memory. Then, took place the analysis of photographs of the event collected from the social network Instagram, as well as its data, and the subsequent visual systematization, aiming to consider how they represent the landscape. Is there a landscape of Passos de Anchieta? Yes, formed by natural elements characteristic of the coast of Espírito Santo, along with coastal occupations and the irrefutable presence of walkers. This fundamental question to the research was answered by in situ observation and by photographs, which indicated preferences for the mixed landscape, contradicting, in part, the initial idea that the interest in the walking would be by the natural elements. However, there are also "moments of landscape" that are events in space and time that define a "landscape system" interconnected by the movement of the walking and represented by photography.

Keywords: landscape perception; walking; landscape evolution; photography; happening.
